Star Wars Captain Rex Blaster Review

The Star Wars blaster released in 2011 has 3 variants: Captain Rex's Pistol (above), Cad Bane's pistol and General Grevious' pistol. I will be reviewing Captain Rex's pistol as it's the only one I have.

The Star Wars blaster comes with 3 unusual darts. They have a hard rubber tip, which doesn't compress so it hits a lot harder. They also have a rubber tube running down the centre which helps keep its shape. For whatever reason, they fly quickly and accurately, which is nice.

The blaster itself is only slightly larger than a Reflex, and holds 2 darts in the handle. It therefore lacks the sling point that the Reflex has. It is also cocked like a Reflex, with the entire top section being the cocking mechanism.

The handle has quite sharp edges, and is quite small, so for adults it would probably be quite uncomfortable. However, because I'm not that large yet, it's ok for me. Even so, a Reflex is more comfortable. Also, for whatever reason, the trigger on mine was sticky, which was annoying.

Now onto the performance. Sadly, this is where this blaster falls down. The range is less than a Reflex, averaging around 7-9m, even with its special darts. Also, despite being a single shot, and using pretty good darts, the Star Wars blaster is fairly inaccurate.

Also, it costed around $17, with a Reflex being $7. This makes the Star Wars blaster quite low value.

I can't recommend this blaster because it is statistically inferior to pretty much every other blaster. Get this only if you like the design.

Pros:
Looks cool, dart storage in handle
Cons:
Everything else

Power: 1.5/7
Accuracy: 3/5
Value for Money: 1.5/5
Usefulness: 2.5/5
Rate of fire: 1/5
Overall: 1.81/5

Personal Rating: 1.5/5 - just novelty.

Good looking, bad performance.
